Asian Wedding Traditions
The fact that the Western culture has reached and extensively influenced many Asian countries has not totally obliterated existing wedding traditions. Some have chosen to incorporate select traditions into their own while most remain steadfast on practicing traditions that have been meticulously passed on to them by their ancestors. Depending on whose side is observing whether it be Western or Asian, each cultural group would probably find something odd and unacceptable on the other. Asian wedding traditions are mostly founded on religion or religious beliefs. While some rituals can easily be adapted to suit a particular cultural theme for the wedding, many rituals have specific religious significance that cannot be randomly tucked into a ceremony of a different faith. Traditions are not only limited to the wedding ceremony itself but will include a whole lot of practices from the proposal to the time that the couple journeys to their new home.
